half day Program

At Evergreen Christian Academy, we believe that parents are the first and primary teachers of their children, and that this privilege does not change just because the children grow into their school-aged years. This is why we place such a strong emphasis on parental involvement, and why we intentionally shorten our instructional schedule to protect more time at home for family life and parent-led learning.

Program Hours:

Monday-Thursday

8:15am - 12:45pm

Parent Partnership

Because our program operates as a part-time school day, some learning will need to be supplemented at home in order to meet Washington State instructional minimums. While core subjects are taught during our program hours, additional instruction will take place outside of school time.

This can look different for every family and may include things like hiking or playground time for PE, family reading, independent projects or homework, and educational outings such as museums, zoos, and nature programs. Evergreen Christian Academy will work alongside you to provide instruction on how required hours are tracked and submitted, and we will provide templates to make documentation easy and straightforward.

For high school students, families will work closely with their instructor to build an individualized plan that meets Evergreen Christian Academy requirements, accreditation requirements, Washington State law, and four-year university expectations for students pursuing a college pathway.

Volunteer Hours

To keep tuition and fees as affordable as possible, Evergreen Christian Academy operates with a required family volunteer commitment of 40 hours per school year. Our fees are significantly reduced compared to other private education options, and this volunteer model is a key part of how we are able to keep costs low for families. This requirement works out to approximately 4 hours per month. For families who are unable to complete volunteer hours, there is the option to defer to a billed alternative for unserved hours. Please note that not all volunteer hours must be completed during school hours, and many opportunities can be fulfilled on evenings or weekends. Volunteer opportunities may include:

  • serving as a classroom assistant

  • helping with building and grounds or janitorial needs

  • leading electives

  • serving on our parent/teacher planning committee

  • participating on an advisory board.
